Regardless of the chosen fare, passengers are generally permitted to bring one small piece of hand luggage (personal item) on board free of charge. A large piece of hand luggage is either already included depending on the fare or can be added for an additional fee. Since 1st May 2026, Condor has updated its guidelines.
The current rules at a glance:
Small hand luggage (personal item): max. 40 x 30 x 15 cm
Large hand luggage: max. 55 x 40 x 23 cm, up to 8 kg
The dimensions always refer to the height x width x depth of your hand luggage. At the airport, there are so-called hand luggage sizers or baggage frames that your luggage must fit into if you are checked. Please note that wheels and handles on suitcases are also included in the measurement.
Every Condor fare includes one small piece of hand luggage measuring 40 x 30 x 15 cm free of charge. This size corresponds to a small bag or small backpack. It must be able to be stowed under the seat in front of you – there is definitely room for travel documents, a smartphone, a book, and smaller essentials.
We recommend the Kapten & Son Bergen Pro Backpack as your small piece of hand luggage for your Condor flight. With its minimalist design, compact interior layout, and laptop compartment, it is the ideal in-flight companion. This way, you have everything quickly to hand without needing to reach up to the overhead locker. Thanks to its luggage attachment, the backpack can be perfectly combined with a large hand luggage suitcase.
In addition to the Bergen Pro, further backpack collections are suitable as small hand luggage. Discover our travel buddies:

Since May 2026, large hand luggage must not exceed the dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm and a weight of 8 kg. It is stored in the overhead lockers above your seat and is either included depending on the fare or can be added for an additional fee.
The Heathrow Cabin Collection from Kapten & Son has you perfectly equipped. The hard-shell suitcase offers 33 litres of capacity, four 360° spinner wheels, and a timeless design – available in All Black, Sandstone, or Aluminium. Those who prefer travelling with a backpack are well advised to choose the Bali Pro or the Lisbon Pro: both meet the size requirements and, thanks to their roll-top function, offer additional volume and maximum flexibility.
The cost of additional baggage with Condor depends on the chosen fare, the route, and the time of booking. In Economy Class, the following fares are available:
Economy Light: Only small hand luggage included – large hand luggage and checked baggage are chargeable.
Economy Zero: Particularly low-cost fare for travellers with light baggage, without the option to rebook or cancel.
Economy Classic: Large hand luggage (up to 8 kg) included, often with seat selection; checked baggage can be added.
Economy Green: Climate-friendly fare option with additional benefits.
Economy Flex: Maximum flexibility with free rebooking and cancellation up to 24 hours before departure.
In addition, Condor offers Premium Economy Class (Premium Classic, Premium Green, Premium Flex) as well as Business Class (Business Classic, Business Green, Business Flex) – large hand luggage and checked baggage are generally included here.
Always book additional baggage online before departure, as fees at the airport are significantly higher. Excess baggage (exceeding the permitted dimensions or weight) is also charged separately. If your hand luggage is larger or heavier than permitted, fees from £75 / €75 may apply.
The following items may be carried in your hand luggage:
Smartphone, laptop, tablet, e-reader, camera
Power banks (up to 100 Wh)
Medication (with a prescription for prescription-only medicines)
Baby food in the required quantity
Liquids in containers of up to 100 ml, collected in a transparent 1-litre bag
Travel documents, wallet, keys
Snacks and solid food items
The following items do not belong in hand luggage (some also not in checked baggage):
Weapons and weapon-like objects (including toy weapons)
Sharp and pointed objects (knives, scissors over 6 cm, razor blades)
Explosives, fireworks, ammunition
Flammable liquids and gases
Toxic and corrosive substances
Lithium batteries over 160 Wh
E-cigarettes (may only be transported in hand luggage)
If you're travelling light with only a small piece of hand luggage, a smart packing list is worthwhile:

Headphones
Wallet with cash & cards
Book or e-reader
Small toiletry kit (toothbrush, deodorant stick, lip balm, make-up, sun cream)
Change of shirt & underwear
Snacks & empty water bottle
Glasses / sunglasses
Medication in original packaging
With the large hand luggage suitcase (e.g. Heathrow Cabin), you are well equipped even for multi-day trips:
Outfits for 3–5 days (roll instead of fold – saves space!)
Shoes (max. 1–2 additional pairs)
Toiletry bag
Pyjamas & underwear
Camera & memory cards
Travel adaptor
3-in-1 jacket or jumper
Travel documents, insurance documents
Foldable bag for dirty laundry
On Condor, all fares include one small piece of hand luggage measuring 40 x 30 x 15 cm free of charge. A large piece of hand luggage measuring 55 x 40 x 23 cm and weighing a maximum of 8 kg is either included depending on the fare (e.g. Economy Classic, Economy Flex, Premium Economy, Business) or can be added for an additional fee.
The international standard rules apply: liquids may only be carried in containers with a maximum capacity of 100 ml. All containers must be stored together in a transparent, resealable zip bag with a maximum volume of 1 litre. A maximum of one bag per person is permitted – it must be presented separately at the security checkpoint.
Condor has tightened its hand luggage checks in recent years – at the gate, dimensions and sometimes weight are checked on a random basis. Anyone who exceeds the requirements must pay a fee of at least €75.
