Booked your holiday, bought your suitcase - only the TSA combination lock is still puzzling you? No problem, because we not only explain how to set up your new lock, but also what this ominous TSA lock is actually good for. We'll also let you know what you can do if you have forgotten your number combination.
When your new Heathrow from Kapten & Son arrives, you will find a step-by-step guide that explains how to set the TSA combination lock. However, if you can no longer find it or you have another piece of luggage with this key system, we will be happy to explain the procedure to you in detail here:
The factory combination of your suitcase lock is 0-0-0.
Open the lock by pushing the sliders underneath the zip sliders downwards. The zip sliders should now pop out of the case lock.
Now return the zip sliders to their original position until they click into place.
Press the small square areas underneath the case lock with a pointed object, such as a pen. Now you can enter your individual numerical code. To confirm, press the slider down again.
All done - you have now set your personal code for the TSA combination lock.
The TSA combination lock has been approved by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in the USA. The TSA was founded as a result of 11 September 2001, is responsible for aviation security and has developed guidelines for screening baggage at airports. This special lock allows TSA officers to inspect luggage quickly and easily without damaging the lock. The lock can be particularly helpful when travelling to the USA: if your suitcase cannot be opened using a TSA lock, force may be used if necessary - and the security authorities will most likely not pay for a replacement. That's why both the travel and hand luggage cases from Kapten & Son are equipped with a TSA combination lock that locks your luggage securely and fulfils the corresponding security requirements at the same time.
If you don't have a tape measure to hand or are unsure whether you have measured correctly, there is another way to determine the dimensions of your laptop. There are two methods depending on the operating system:
Windows
Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously.
A small window will now appear (Execute). If you enter "msinfo32" in the empty field, a new window will open in which you can read the model and serial number of your device.
Enter the device number into your trusted search engine. On a manufacturer or retailer website, you will most likely also find the dimensions of your laptop among the product information.
Alternatively, you can find the model number on the back of your laptop.
macOS (MacBook)
Open the Apple menu.
Select the option "About this Mac". Here you will find all the information you need.
If you cannot access your MacBook, you will find the serial number on the back of your device.
Thanks to this guide, you can now find out the screen size without tedious mental arithmetic. Once you have all your measurements to hand, it's time to look around for a new backpack. Do something good for your work equipment and opt for a stylish Kapten & Son laptop backpack.
