Mini-Me: Grab this kindergarten backpack from Kapten & Son with colourful patches to make it your own. This children's backpack has enough room for a sippy bottle, cuddly toy and other essentials your little one needs for this big step.
Minimalist design and calm colours make this backpack perfect for a 'Mums and kids' photo shoot of you and your little one on their first day at preschool or on your next outing.
Buying a kindergarten backpack: what should I look out for?
The packing list for preschool backpacks is fairly straightforward, as most things like nappies, wet wipes, change of clothes etc. usually stay in your child's locker at preschool. Sippy bottle, lunch box, cuddly toy and dummy, on the other hand, go with them everywhere – so make sure you have a preschool backpack which can hold at least five litres.
We also recommend padded straps and a chest strap, as these make it easier for your little treasure to carry whilst also keeping the backpack balanced.
When buying a backpack, make sure it has adjustable straps if you're going to be throwing it over your own shoulder too – which will almost certainly be the case to start with. Our Bergen Kids and Fyn Kids Kindergarten backpacks both come with chest straps and padded shoulder straps. Both backpacks also have smart interior layouts, to make packing up and coming home from preschool a breeze.
A holder for a sippy bottle and a padded compartment keep it neat and tidy inside. We have also added a name tag inside so you can label the backpack – so nothing gets lost!
What age kids is the Kapten & Son children's backpack suitable for?
We recommend the children's backpack from the age of 2 and up. Your child can enjoy the backpack until they reach six. Then it's time for a school backpack.
How many litres should a kindergarten backpack hold?
We recommend you aim for a capacity of 5 litres. For example, our Bergen Kids easily accommodates a sippy bottle, a folded-up jacket, a small soft toy, a dummy box and a lunch box.
